The weather has been an evil demon this month. Where is the sublime in all of this?
Carter Range… from the numbers, it’s stout. But put boots on the ground, and it’s still stout, but surprising. Not quite easy, but surprises abound.
In some sublime way, I seem to have a lot of good experiences on this mountain. First time I did this, I had a blast. And that’s been the trend ever since.
Owl’s Head is often maligned for its lack of a view, committing mileage, and steep climb. But that misses the point. You so often hurt the ones who love you.
Sometimes you look out into the clouds, look inward, and hope to see beyond. Occasionally you find clarity.
It’s not a pussycat, but it’s not a lion. It lies somewhere in between. And over all its length, there is much undiscovered, waiting to be found.
Embrace the idea that perfection lies in natural imperfection. The vinegar is sweet, not sour or bitter.
It’s hard, but easier than it seems. And with unbelievable mid-autumn weather, what could go wrong?
