Open your mind to the idea that by doing something mindlessly easy, you might just be moving out of your comfort zone.
Sometimes you think you’re only booking miles. And then you get home, let it ruminate for a bit, and realize there was a lot more.
Sometimes you look up and see clouds. You hike up, and see something more.
This is from the hike I did in January, where the views were short, but hey, that’s how things go sometimes. It was a good outing nonetheless, proving Kinsman Ridge is a great hike just about any time.
Sometimes you get what you want. And sometimes you don’t, but you get something unexpected. It’s all good.
North and South Kinsman offer great views, an easy ascent, and a quick and painless traverse across the col. What’s not to like?

And then, there were none! North and South Kinsman Mountain (4,293 and 4,658 feet, respectively), Cannon Mountain (4,100 feet). Franconia, NH. With a crossing over the Cannonballs. 60 dF at trailhead, approx 70 dF at summits. Cloudy to start, giving way to mostly sunny skies and 20-30 miles visibility.
